PostSubject: FYI: How to use the Guild Chat   Sun Feb 10, 2008 8:31 pm

I want everyone to participate in the guild, as much as they are willing and able to do so. So here's my attempt to break down one possible barrier.

In case some of you are not sure what is appropriate to say on the Guild Chat, here is a set of guidelines.

1) These guidelines are intended to ENCOURAGE chat, not prohibit chat.

2) Here is a list of things that you CAN and SHOULD do:
. a) Ask questions
. b) Say "hello" or make an annoucement
. c) Start a discussion with several people in the guild
. d) Start a conversation with somebody that you wouldn't mind having other people join
. e) Coordinate something with multiple guild members that are not in the same town or area
. f) Anything similar to what I have mentioned here. Conversations and discussions do not have to be guild-related, in fact, off-topic discussions are often quite fun.

3) Here is a list of thing that would be better off in private chat, but are not problematic. These are not prohibited in any way, but not encouraged.
. a) A private conversation (what I mean is that if it's on our chat, we all have the right to see what you are saying)
. b) A conversation with one person that does not include anyone else in the guild, such as trade negotiations
. c) Personal opinions that other guild members are likely to take the wrong way. We trust you to use your judgment here.
. d) Something similar to what I have mentioned above

4) Here is the dreaded list of what NOT to do:
. a) Break Anet's rules
. b) Be nasty to people. If you have a problem with somebody, deal with it responsibly. If you are just annoyed that they beat you in PvP, get over it.
. c) Anything mean-spirited, such as deliberately spamming the chat with nonsense messages.
. d) I hope I never have to add anything here.

Good luck and have fun.
